Garner more business by exposing your business. The more often the person “behind the scenes” is seen and promoting the business product or service, the more branding becomes predominant in the public eye. Some ideas for exposure that may help stream more business through the door are tried and true, and some new.
Attend conferences and seminars as well as exhibits and events, both those within the business niche and outside traditional circles. The unexpected is more memorable and will be more talked about. Word of mouth spreads fast, is free, and may land in the ears of your next new customer or client.
Utilize social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linked-in to expose both your business and yourself. Most people will prefer to do business with people they know. Let the public get to know you through social media streams, and they may make way to your door.
Take ownership of listings on web directories to improve your online search engine ranking. Some typical directories include www.citysearch.com, www.merchantcircle.com, www.showmelocal.com, and www.yellowpages.com. Also, www.chamberofcommerce.com is an excellent point of exposure that will provide a “badge” for your business website. A little research and updating of information on these sites will promote your business ranking to the top of search engine results, and drastically improve your business exposure.
The customer/client can only find your business if they know you are there. Exposure is necessary and easy to achieve. Be persistent, persevere, and succeed.
